From Stylist to Salon Owner: my journey.
When I moved to London at just 18, I had no idea how much that decision would shape me. I spent seven transformative years there learning, working, growing, and ultimately becoming the stylist I am today. That city taught me everything about hard work, creativity, and pushing limits in this industry.
Three years ago, I took another big leap and moved to Dubai. I was fortunate to work in one of the most high-end salons in the city, surrounded by excellence and ambition. But deep down, I always had one dream: to have a salon of my own.
That dream came true earlier this year, but it didn’t come wrapped in a bow.
I bought the salon, and within days, the entire team left. Every single stylist walked out, and I was left standing in an empty space with a massive decision: give up or build something better from scratch. I chose to rebuild. Alone at first managing clients, answering phones, cleaning, marketing. All while looking for the right people to join me.
The biggest challenge wasn't just staffing or logistics. It was shifting my mindset. I had to stop thinking like an employee and start acting like a boss. That meant taking full responsibility: managing people, making tough decisions, budgeting every dirham, and constantly thinking ten steps ahead. It’s a whole different world when the business is yours.
It’s only been three months, but I finally feel more confident. I’m slowly shaping the space into what I’ve always imagined. A rebrand is in the works: new name, new interiors, a new chapter. It’s not easy as renovations, planning, and money management can be exhausting. But I know I’m building something real, something that reflects me and the years I’ve poured into this industry.
I can already see the potential this salon holds. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made, even if there’s still a long road ahead. I can’t wait for summer in Dubai to end so we can really hit the ground running, because I’m ready to turn this dream into something unforgettable.
